Spanish club Barcelona advanced to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League with a 3-1 victory over Portuguese side Benfica in the second leg of their last-16 tie.
Brazilian forwards Rafinha and Lamine Yamal were the stars of Barcelona's victory in the second leg at home on Tuesday night. Rafinha scored twice, while Yamal scored once and assisted once. Yamal also set the record for the youngest player to score and assist in the knockout stages of the Champions League. Rafinha put Barcelona ahead in the 11th minute of the match. However, Barcelona's lead did not last long. Nicolas Otamendi scored two minutes later to bring the visitors back into the game. In the 27th minute, Yamal put Barcelona ahead 2-1. Yamal scored a spectacular goal from about 25 yards out to put the home team back in the lead. Barcelona took a 3-1 lead in the first half after Rafinha scored in the 42nd minute. With no goals in the second half, the Spanish club secured a 4-1 aggregate victory to advance to the quarterfinals.Earlier, Barcelona had secured a 1-0 win in the first leg. Barcelona will now face the winner between Borussia Dortmund and Lille for a place in the semi-finals of the competition.
