Nepal Crushes West Indies to Seal Unity Cup T20 Series with a Game in Hand

Nepal has sealed the Unity Cup T20 series title with a match to spare after thrashing the West Indies by 90 runs in the second game held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, UAE, on Sunday night. This emphatic victory follows Nepal’s historic win in the opening match, securing the series 2–0 with one game still left to play.

Match Summary

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Nepal posted a competitive total of 173 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Aasif Sheikh anchored the innings with an unbeaten 68 runs off 47 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes. Sandeep Jora added fireworks to the scoreboard, smashing 63 runs off 39 balls, which included five sixes and three fours. Mohammad Adil Alam chipped in with 11 runs.

For the West Indies, skipper Akeal Hosein and Kyle Mayers picked up two wickets each, while Jediah Blades claimed one.

In reply, the West Indies faltered under pressure and were bowled out for just 83 runs in 17.1 overs, falling 90 runs short of the target. Only Jason Holder (21 runs off 15 balls with two sixes), Akeem Auguste (17), and Amir Jango (16) reached double figures, while the rest struggled against Nepal’s bowling attack.

Adil Alam was the star with the ball, grabbing four wickets. Kushal Bhurtel supported with three wickets, while Lalit Rajbanshi and Dipendra Singh Airee took one apiece.

With this win, Nepal not only clinched the series but also achieved a historic feat by defeating the West Indies in consecutive T20 matches — a remarkable milestone for Nepali cricket.
