Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia –In a historic moment for Nepali women’s cricket, captain Indu Barma has become the first Nepali woman cricketer to score 1,000 runs in T20 Internationals. She achieved this milestone during the fourth T20I match against Malaysia on Tuesday, scoring 15 runs to cross the coveted four-digit mark.

Barma reached the landmark in her 77th T20I match, underscoring her consistency and longevity in Nepal’s growing cricketing journey. While her career includes just one half-century — a 55-run knock against Qatar in 2021 in Doha — her overall contributions with the bat have been crucial in establishing Nepal as a competitive side in women’s cricket.
So far in her T20I career, Indu has struck 73 fours and 3 sixes, reflecting her role as a reliable anchor in Nepal’s batting lineup rather than a power-hitter. Her ability to hold the innings and play mature knocks has made her a cornerstone of the team over the years.
With this achievement, Indu now tops the list of highest run-scorers for Nepal in women’s T20Is, surpassing two of Nepal’s most experienced cricketers:

- Sita Rana Magar – 965 runs in 62 matches
- Rubina Chhetri – 916 runs in 78 matches

Sita has not featured in the playing XI in the last two matches, giving Indu the opportunity to edge ahead in the record books.
Indu’s journey with the national team began in 2011, making her one of the most experienced players in the squad, after Rubina and Sita. However, it’s important to note that Nepal began playing official Women’s T20 Internationals only in 2019 — meaning Indu’s 1,000 runs have come in just the past six years.
Her first appearance on the international stage came during the ACC U-19 Cup in Singapore in 2010, and she has remained a key figure in the national setup ever since.
This personal milestone comes on the back of a significant team achievement as well — Nepal levelled the ongoing five-match T20I series against Malaysia 2–2 with a clinical six-wicket win on the same day. As Nepal eyes the series decider, Indu’s milestone adds both momentum and inspiration for the team.
