
Kathmandu, October 5 — Nepal’s star karateka Erika Gurung has added another remarkable achievement to her already illustrious career, winning gold in the 68+ kg weight category at the ongoing Karate 1 Series A in Malaysia.

Erika secured the first-place finish on Friday, defeating Tasmin Maskny in the final with a commanding 2–0 victory. Her journey to the gold medal was marked by dominant performances throughout the tournament.
In the semifinal, Erika overpowered Hakova Amalji of the Czech Republic with an impressive 7–0 win. Prior to that, she cruised through the quarterfinals, defeating Charlotte Rohlmann of Germany 4–0, and in the pre-quarterfinal, she dominated Lorenzo Helena of Portugal with a sweeping 8–0 victory.
Erika is widely regarded as the most successful karate player in Nepal’s history. She previously made headlines by winning silver medals at both the 19th Asian Games and the 20th Senior AKF Championship, achieving historic milestones for Nepalese karate.

In addition to this, Erika has also won a bronze medal at the prestigious Karate 1 Premier League, one of the most competitive events on the international karate circuit.
With today’s victory, Erika continues to shine on the global stage and brings pride to Nepal. Her consistent performance and international success have made her a role model and inspiration for aspiring athletes, especially young women in Nepal.
