Dubai, The highly anticipated Asia Cup Super Four encounter between arch-rivals India and Pakistan in Dubai has taken a controversial turn, with both cricket boards—India’s Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)—filing official complaints with the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the conduct of players during and after the game.

According to reports, the BCCI has formally lodged a complaint against Pakistani cricketers Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan. The complaint, submitted via email on Wednesday and confirmed as received by the ICC, highlights two incidents that the Indian board described as “inappropriate behavior.” Farhan’s animated celebration following his half-century and Rauf’s provocative gesture towards the spectators have been termed controversial. Sources suggest that if the accused players reject the charges, they will have to appear before match referee Richie Richardson for a formal hearing.
At the same time, the PCB has reportedly raised its own grievance against India’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav. Following India’s win over Pakistan on September 14, Yadav dedicated the victory to “the families of victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack and Indian security personnel.” Pakistan has argued that such remarks amount to “political commentary,” which, according to ICC regulations, is prohibited on the cricket field.
The match itself was not short of drama either. On-field tensions escalated several times, with verbal exchanges reported between Pakistani pacers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, and Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. Players from both sides had to be repeatedly calmed by officials to ensure the game continued smoothly.
Despite the controversy, India emerged victorious in the match, securing their place in the Asia Cup final. The win further intensified the emotional backdrop of one of world cricket’s fiercest rivalries, which continues to draw both passion and scrutiny on and off the field.
With both the BCCI and PCB escalating matters to the ICC, the cricketing world now awaits the governing body’s response and any potential disciplinary action against the players involved.
