Kathmandu, Dubai Bangladesh kicked off their Asia Cup Super Four campaign with a thrilling 4–wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the UAE. The Tigers chased down a target of 169 runs with just one ball to spare, marking a perfect start in the Super Four stage and taking sweet revenge for their earlier group-stage loss against Sri Lanka.

Batting first after losing the toss, Sri Lanka posted 168/7 in their 20 overs. Skipper Dasun Shanaka played a captain’s knock with an unbeaten 64 runs, while Kusal Mendis added 34, Pathum Nissanka scored 22, and Charith Asalanka chipped in with 21 runs. For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman was the standout bowler with 3 wickets, supported by Mehidy Hasan (2 wickets) and Taskin Ahmed (1 wicket).
In reply, Bangladesh rode on the brilliance of opener Saif Hassan, who struck a solid 61, and youngster Towhid Hridoy, who smashed 58 runs under pressure. Captain Litton Das contributed 23 runs to guide the chase. Despite Sri Lanka’s bowlers – Wanindu Hasaranga and Dasun Shanaka taking 2 wickets each, and Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera claiming one apiece – Bangladesh held their nerve in the tense final over to seal victory.
With this win, Bangladesh opened their Super Four account with 2 vital points, strengthening their chances of reaching the final.
